Sushi Pier
A crafted identity for a neighbourhood sushi bar.
Sushi Pier is a grab-and-go sushi bar at Camberwell Place, and the brief was to give its brand the same attention to detail found in the food. We took the store’s understated architecture as the starting point. Its circular arches and fine screens became the rounded forms and delicate line work of the identity, from a mark formed by two sushi rolls to a geometric pattern for packaging.
The approach pairs Japanese sensibility with contemporary Melbourne design. A rich blue, a flexible wordmark and illustration carry the brand from the illuminated shopfront sign to uniforms, wrapping paper and chopstick sleeves.
